Peterborough Fire Services provides emergency and support services 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year to the citizens of Peterborough.

Peterborough Fire Services provides a wide range of programs and services including public fire & life safety education, fire prevention, investigation and enforcement, and fire suppression.

Our fire suppression services include search and rescue, auto extrication, hazardous materials response, confined space rescue, technical rope rescue, emergency preparedness, ice & water rescue, and mutual aid  in support of our other local fire emergency services.

Peterborough Fire Services is staffed 24 hours a day, 365 days a year to address the fire & life safety needs of Peterborough residents and visitors. Peterborough Fire Services operates out of three fire station locations and a non-staffed station located at the Peterborough Airport.

Personnel are spread across the following divisions: Suppression, Prevention, Public Education, Communications, Training, and Aministration for a total of 98 personnel. The Emergency Management Department for the City of Peterborough also operates out of Fire Station #1.

Peterborough Fire Services serves a residential population of  approximately 78,000, and a day population of 90,000. The response area covers 53 km2 over 700 streets. We provide services for 38 schools, Trent University, Sir Sandford Fleming College, 52 churches, 17 nursing homes, 150 industrial and 900 commercial businesses. Our goal is to safely arrive at any emergency scene inside the city within 6 minutes.
